Our Trip to North Carolina Part 1

Well this is going to be the first of multiple posts of our wonderful trip to North Carolina.  We had such a great time and did so many things which visiting with my (Sandy) cousins, aunt and uncle and little nephew Caleb. My parents even came out towards the end of our trip so that we could have everyone together.  It was a 10 day vacation and going to the beautiful state of NC was such a welcome change from our home in the desert...the trees were amazing and Jake was constantly pointing them out.  Although as he is only used to seeing trees when we take the kids apple picking, he did not understand where the apples where.  :)  Poor kid...he needs more trees in his life.  While we were there we went to the North Carolina State Fair, the beach, a great Children's museum, enjoyed even simple drives to the grocery store while seeing all the greenery and the changing colors of the leaves, had amazing food, and had such a great time staying with Stephanie, Jason and little Caleb.  The boys adored their little cousin and Jake especially loved bringing him toys, books, food and anything else that he could get away with.  :)  Yes Jake loved his "Careb and Aunt Erstme" (Stephanie).  Lol...while Jake learns how to say people's names he sure comes up with some cute nicknames...gets kinda sad when he actually figures out how to say them correctly.  :)  While we were there AJ worked on improving his walking and was walking all over the house, Jake and AJ took their first baths together and slept in the same room together, AJ had ice cream for the first time and of course went on his first plane ride, and AJ cut his 4th tooth.  So it was quite the trip for our boys.  :D  Well onto the pictures for more fun stories.  :)
Jake and AJ enjoyed sitting next to each other on the plane ride.  AJ slept almost his entire first flight (Burbank, CA to Phoenix, Arizona)  On the second portion of the flight Jake got a real thrill.  As we walked aboard the plane he happened to look into the cockpit.  The flight attendant saw this and asked him if he wanted to go into the cockpit.  While we were getting AJ settled, Jake was having a blast up there and even got to talk on the plane intercom.  The entire plane heard him say, "Hi Mom" and ""Captain."  :)  He thought he was pretty hot stuff.
Our first day there we went to the North Carolina State Fair.  It was amazing with so many fun things, yummy fair food, and fun firsts.  Here Jake got to ride on a pony for the very first time.  As soon as he saw it he ran up to the area and told me "I ride this!!!"  He rode like a real cowboy, I think he liked it better than his rocking horse at home.  :)
A VERY happy Cowboy Jakey...what he called himself of course :)
He could have ridden his pony forever.
Later he played his first carnival game.  It was a game where he got to grab and fishing pole and throw the line in 3 times to try and catch a "fish" (plastic sharks)...he was great at it and caught 3 of them easily.  he had his pick of some really cute stuffed animals...but of course he was a boy and picked this snake.  His buddy for the rest of the trip.  :)
AJ also had a big thrill of trying ice cream for the very first time.  And this was no ordinary ice cream.  It was homemade fair ice cream that was called campfire or something with this rich yummy marshmallow, chocolate, smokey, gram crackery flavor.  It was insane...and of course AJ LOVED it!!!
He was a pretty happy customer.  Helped too that his lunch that day was deep fried Mac N Cheese.  :D  Hey we were at the fair...he HAD to have a great first fair experience right???  :)
The boys enjoying hanging out and getting to know each other.  I can hardly wait to see them grow up together, experience many fun times and hopefully grow to be great friends.
Daddy and AJ enjoying some story time.  AJ loves his Mickey Mouse.
And there is one story from early in the trip that I have to share.  Jake and AJ shared a room while they were there and they had never done this before.  The first morning I heard Jake on the monitor saying in a whisper, " AJ....AJ...AJ"  then a rustle and AJ saying "hi."  It was too cute.  Well the second morning AJ woke up first and so I went and got him and let Jake sleep while we played in the living room.  My cousin was next to the boys room a little later and heard Jake wake up.  She told me that she heard Jake say "AJ, AJ" and then not seeing him...."OH NO!!!!!!"  Poor kid had no idea what had happened to his brother.  Luckily she rushed in and told him where we were to calm his fears.  :)  But it was really cute.
Next up...the beach!!!!!
